Dear friends, in my first report for the Newsletter as the AIC president, I want to express my recognition to the previous AIC executive committee: to former president Paula Alessi, who has dedicated her best efforts and capacities to the AIC during 12 years in three consecutive terms (first as EC member, then as vice-president and finally as president), and has been my continuous example and immediate point of reference; to Paul Green Armytage, who served as vice-president during two years and after his resignation completed the term as EC member, who was the historical editor of the Newsletter and is one of my best friends in the AIC; to Frank Rochow, the secretary-treasurer who managed with admirable efficiency the AIC matters during two consecutive terms, under the presidencies of Mitsuo Ikeda and Paula Alessi; and to Joaquín Campos, Aran Hansuebsai and Hirohisa Yaguchi, with whom I shared not only work but also many enjoyable moments during the past four years.
