Resumen:
Demetrio Boltovskoy es el editor de esta obra. Dado el volumen de la misma (1705 páginas) no es factible adjuntar una versión electrónica de la misma en los 25 Mb que es el tamaño límite del sistema SIGEVA. South Atlantic Zooplankton is a general reference volume and guide on the identification and geographic distribution of the zooplankton of the South Atlantic Ocean. This book, published by Backhuys, Leiden, in 1999, compiles detailed information for the specific identification of 30 zooplanktonic groups, and offers a review of species-specific geographic and vertical distribution patterns in the South Atlantic Ocean. This edition covers the abundant literature produced in the last decades, much of which is in the form of unpublished dissertations, internal reports, and articles in local journals of restricted distribution, extending the coverage of the 1981 Spanish volume to the eastern South Atlantic (0 to 60°S, coast to coast). The South Atlantic Zooplankton is a joint effort coordinated by D. Boltovskoy with contributions by 43 biological oceanographers and marine biologists from 14 countries around the globe. The contents of this ca. 2,000 pages volume includes one introductory chapter: "General biological features of the South Atlantic Ocean", followed by those devoted to the different zooplanktonic groups: General biological features of the South Atlantic (Demetrio Boltovskoy, Mark Gibbons, Lawrence Hutchings and Denis Binet) Acantharia (Renate Bernstein, Stanley A. Kling and Demetrio Boltovskoy) Foraminifera (Sylvia Kemle-von Mücke and Christoph Hemleben) Radiolaria Polycystina (Demetrio Boltovskoy) Radiolaria Phaeodaria (Stanley A. Mianzan and Paul Cornelius) Ctenophora (Hermes W. Mianzan) Nemertina (Ray Gibson) Polychaeta (Erik Thuesen and María Ana Fernández Álamo) Heteropoda (Gotthard Richter and Roger R. Seapy) Pteropoda (Siebrecht van der Spoel and José R. Dadon) Cephalopoda (Kir N. Nesis) Ctenopoda and Onychopoda (=Cladocera) (Takashi Onbé) Ostracoda (Martin V. Angel) Copepoda (Janet M.
