A surface growth of great technological importance is the growth of thin films by molecular beam epitaxy, a technology used to manufacture semiconductor devices.  We carry out Monte Carlo simulations to test basic mechanisms in surface growth for some cases of interest.  In particular, we focus on Si(100), the surface used in making chips.  Also, the validity of the scaling hypothesis in discrete deposition models and their connection with the scaling exponents of continuum differential equations are addressed.
