Prostaglandins (PRs) are mediators that have a variety of physiological effects such as regulation of the contraction and relaxation of the smooth muscle and platelet aggregation. The aim of this work was to characterize PRs release in aorta from rabbits fed either standard rabbit chow (CD) or chow containing 1% cholesterol (HD) for 5-6 weeks. Experiments were performed on isolated unrubbed (CE) and rubbed (SE) aortic rings in both basal and angiotensin II-stimulated conditions. PRs were extracted and resolved by HPLC.
