Resumen:
A possible association between high-density energetic foods (HDEF, 4-9 kcal/g)-consumption and metabolic syndrome (MS) was tested in a population-based study in 250 adult patients (18-80 years-old), in San Luis City (Argentina) between 2016 and 2017. Socio-demographic, anthropometric and HDEF-consumption data were obtained using a validated food frequency questionnaire. T test was performed to determine the mean difference of HDEF-consumption according absence or presence of each MS component; and multiple logistic-regression models were adjusted to determine a possible association between them. 9% of the studied population had MS, of which 19% had central obesity (waist circumference, >102(men)/88(women) cm), 10% had HBP (systolic->130 and diastolic-blood pressure>85 mmHg, o medicated), 18% had hypertriglyceridemia (TG>150 mg/dL), 40% had low-HDL-c (
