Resumen:
In the present study evaluated the diuretic effect of Lithraea molleoides fruits (Vell.) Engl.(Anacardiaceae), known as ?molle de beber?, ?molle dulce? or ?chichita?. It is a tree which grows inSouth America, especially in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The aerial plant parts are used in folkmedicine as diuretic and digestive, and the fruit infusion is used as natural sweetener. The aim of thisstudy was determine the diuretic activity of the fruit in Wistar rats, using the Lipschitz method. Infusion(10%) was prepared and subsequently lyophilized. Rats were treated with the lyophilized of L. molleoidesfruits (Lmf) using as standard 10 mg/kg of furosemide. Acontrol (saline solution) was established. Urinaryvolume was measured at 15 min for 3h to determine urinary volumetric excretion (UVE). A proceduredetermination of minerals by ICP-MS in urine was optimized using deionized water. The statisticaldifference was performed by Student´s test. Rats treated with Lmf showed a significant diuretic effectbetween 30 (UVE: 68.85 ± 5.99; p
