Resumen:
17-Estradiol exerts an antiapoptotic action in skeletal muscle cells through extranuclearER and . This protective action, mainly involves a non-genomic mechanism of ERK1/2and PI3K/Akt activation and BAD phosphorylation. ER plays a major role in the inhibitionof apoptosis by 17-estradiol at the level of mitochondria, whereas ER and ER mediatethe activation of Akt to the same extent, suggesting differential involvement of ER isoformsdepending on the step of the apoptotic/survival pathway involved. The myopathies associatedto estrogen deficit statesmay be related to the mechanisms by which estrogen regulatesapoptosis.
