Resumen:
The unique optical properties of silicon nanoparticles, SiNP, their biocompatibility, and their capability to produce cytotoxic singlet oxygen upon UV Visible and high energy X rays irradiation, give them potential as therapeutic agents in photodynamic and radiotherapy of cancer. Phthalocyanines, Pc, are well-known singlet oxygen photosensitizres. Thus, the functionalization of SiNP with Pc is expected to present greater singlet oxygen generation capacity than insolated SiNP or Pc. Here we report the synthesis and the functionalization route of SiNP with Al tetracarboxyphthalocianine, known to interact with biomolecules. The IR, UV Vis, and photoluminescence emission-excitation spectra of the synthesis intermediates are presented.
