Resumen:
Bovinechromosome5hasbeenwidelystudiedbecauseseveralQTLshavebeendetectedthere,inparticularforgrowthandfattraits.Eventhoughmostofthebeefisproducedunderpasturebasedconditions,onlylittleresearchhasfocusedonthiskindofsystems.TwoQTLregions,neighboringtheMyogenicfactor5gene,andInsulin-likeGrowthFactor1(IGF1)gene,wereselected.Withinthem,fourBTA5microsatellites(BP1,ETH10,IGF1andRM029)wereusedtoestablishtheirassociationwithgrowthandfattraitsinapasturebasedfeedingsystem.TheEstimatedBreedingValuestestedwere:400(W400)and600DaysWeight(W600),RibEyeArea(REA),RibFat,RumpFat,andIntraMuscularFat.Forgrowthtraitssignificantassociations(p≤0.05)betweenBP1andREA,andbetweenIGF1andW600,weredetected.Forfattraitssignificantassociation(p≤0.05)betweenETH10andRibFatandRumpFatwasdetected.Whenconsideringapairofclosermarkergenotypes,IGF1/ETH10wassignificantlyassociated(p≤0.05)withW400andW600.TheseresultsshowthatQTLforgrowthandfattraitsthatwerepreviouslyreportedintworegionsofBTA5,arealsoexpressedinacommercialpasturebasedsystem,whereanimalsarenotalwaysfedtoexpresstheirmaximumgeneticpotential.
