ACEPTADO PARA SU PUBLICACION Abstract: From different perspectives much has been written about the place of the researcher in the production processes of knowledge through empirical inquiry. There are multiple positions to address and make thoughtful post subjectivity of the researcher in social sciences. One of these possibilities at present is the auto-ethnography and on the basis of a systematic thinking about it is prepared this work. The aim of this article is to discus some epistemic challenges for social research in Latin America since the reflection of the usefulness of auto-ethnography as a methodological strategy. The argumentative strategy selected to achieve the aforementioned objective is: a) outlines some of the discussions on the place of the researcher in social sciences in the literature of the late twentieth century, b) indicates the main characteristics of the auto- ethnography, c) outlines an experience of using auto-ethnographies in an investigation, and finally, d) discusses some conclusions and challenges that can be extracted from the narrated. The work calls for decolonization and sociological depth of creativity in Latin America re-taking the potential use of auto-ethnography. Key Words: Auto-ethnography. Subjectivity.
