Resumen:
Given a digital black and white image as a succession of ones and zeroes, we show that it is possible to associate to each row the order and iteration of a Cantor prefractal with equal or similar free space to approximate that digital row distribution to a fractal structure. The complete set of variables (number of bars, order and iteration) obtained is used to reconstruct the original image. Several examples are included considering two main strategies: a) Binded variables (number of bars and iteration) and, b) Unbinded variables (number of bars, order and iteration). It is concluded that this method allows to reduce the amount of data needed to represent the original image as a way of fractal image compression.
