Resumen:
In the process industries, optimal operation of continuous plants is typically addressed using a real-time optimization (RTO) layer, and a process control layer. The RTO layer evaluates the optimal operating point at steady state under low frequency changing conditions. The operating point is characterized by setpoints that are passed to the process control layer, which often involves model predictive control (MPC). This paper presents a novel approach for integrating RTO and MPC. The approach includes constraint biases at both levels in order to compensate for the effect of plant-model mismatch and process disturbances, and prevent constraint violations.
