Resumen:
The volcanism of the Archibarca-Arita arca can besubdivided in three major episodes of calc-alkaline activityspanned from Lower Miocene to Recent. The older episodecomprise daci tes, trachytes and rhyolites of Arita and itbelongs dominantly to the high-K cale-alkaline series. Thesecond episode form the Cerro Archibarca volean() with latiand ash-flows of high-K cale-alkaline rhyolites anddacites. The third episodes produced widespread lowvolumeeruptions of hasaltic andesites since the UpperMiocene to the present.
