The appropriation achieved by preservice physics teachers in relation to their ideas of teaching and learning throughout a reformulated course of Didactics of Physics (DP) is reported. Inspired in the concept of appropriation from the literature on learning from a sociocultural perspective, it was possible to recognize appropriation in five out of six preservice teachers involved in this study. It was possible to identify the authentic and idiosyncratic ideas that define the personal stamp of each student which are also tuned with contemporary conceptions of learning and teaching of physics coming from science education.
