Resumen:
This work is part of a palaeontological study of insects (Petrulevièius, 2001b) recovered from Maíz Gordo Formation, upper Paleocene to the lower Eocene, north-western Argentina (Del Papa, 1999). Taphonomic cycles were recognized in sediments of the middle part of Maíz Gordo (Petrulevièius, 2001b). They provide an independent test for the sequence stratigraphy cycles (Fernández-López, 1997) distinguished by Del Papa (1992, 1994). Methodology and concepts used herein are those developed by S. Fernández López in several papers (for a summary see Fernández-López, 2000b).
