Resumen:
This paper carried on a study of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) in the rockssurrounding the town of Puelches, on the outcrops of the La Horqueta Formation, whichappears on both sides of the Salado River. Puelches is located in the south center of theprovince of La Pampa (38º 08? S; 65º 54? O) and incorporated in the northern sector ofChadileuvú Block. The main objective is to determine the magnetic source of the lithologyinvolved in this study and to stablish connections with the results obtained in other basins andneighboring outcrops, thus providing data on the reconstruction of the southwestern margin ofGondwana during the Late Paleozoic-Triassic in Argentina. The analysis of the main directions of ASM shows that: in the rocks of the Horqueta Formation, the fabric is secondary and of a tectonic type, as consequence of the compressive principal stresses from SW-NE, as were reported in other near towns. Then, it is reasonable to link the deformation affecting La Horqueta Formation to the coupling of the Chilenia terrane during the Middle to Upper Devonian times, in the course of the Chánica Orogenic Phase (Turner and Méndez 1975), and as a result of the collision between the Chilenia and Patagonia terranes with Gondwana (Tomezzoli 2012).
