Resumen:
New studies involve rocks from the El Imperial Formation, in the San Rafael block, Mendoza Province, Argentina, deformed during the late Paleozoic. The El Imperial Formation is composed of over 2400 m of glacial and marine deposits with upper Carboniferous - Lower Permian ages. Paleomagnetism, field structural studies and the exploration of the magnetic fabric signatures (AMS) can be useful to evaluate the regional deformation and a better understanding of the assembly, deformation, and fragmentation of Gondwana / Pangea. The stability of the area imply that the obtained paleomagnetic poles will be representative of South America. Systematic sampling was done in three localities with different structural actitud; standart specimens are submitting to thermal demagnetization. Preliminary paleomagnetic results have not good quality. However, AMS results have good consistence inside each site and between localities with representing sedimentary and /or tectonic fabric.
