Resumen:
In order to build an apparent polar wander path (APWP) we have undertaken a rigorous selection ofpaleomagnetic poles (PP) belonging to Gondwana (South America, Africa, Antarctica and Australia) fromthe Carboniferous to the Triassic. The APWP has 78 PP obtained from sedimentary rocks corrected forinclination shallowing, from sedimentary rocks with syn or post-tectonic magnetizations, the age of themagnetization is restricted and from igneous rocks that are regarded as free from any inclination shallowingbias. The use of PP from all around Gondwana shows geometrically that they would not be substantiallyaffected by inclination shallowing. Visual consistency obtained for each age range supports the constructionof this Paleozoic APWP. The results allow a tectonic model for the evolution consistent with a B typePangea configuration for the Permian and a subsequent transition to Pangea A during the Upper Permianand Triassic.
