Diffusion Kinetics at Liquid-Glassy Polymer Interphases

We explored the diffusion mechanisms in a seriesof liquid/glassy polymer interphases. The diffusion experimentswere performed in a unique way: the temperature rangestudied encompassed the glass transition temperature (Tg) ofthe glassy matrices. We observed that the diffusion behaviorof the liquid polymer was remarkably continuous whenpassing through the matrix Tg, and that the diffusion modes atthe liquid/glassy interphases were very similar to thoseobserved in liquid/liquid polymer diffusion.
