In the testis, Sertoli cells (SC) proliferate to support a high pool of germ cells, leading to a suitable sperm production in adulthood. Activin A (ActA), a member of the TGF-β superfamily, acts as a paracrine mitogen on fetal and postnatal proliferation of SC. However, besides an increase in Cyclin D2 expression, little is known about the mechanisms that might explain ActA induced proliferation of SC. The aim of this study was to assess the signaling pathways and gene expression changes involved in ActA induced proliferation of SC. SC were isolated from 8-day-old Sprague-Dawley rats and incubated under basal conditions or stimulated with ActA (50 ng/mL) for different periods of time. Results are expressed as X±SD, n=3 (*p
