Resumen:
While pure KTa03 is an incipient ferroelectric which does notundergo any phase transition, KNb03 undergoes a sequence of three phasetransitions. Our specific goal is to clarify the validity of the nonlinearshell model to describe the totally different behavior observed in KTa03and KNb03, by comparing the underlying static potential for differentatomic distortions with recent ab-initio calculations.
