Point-of-care (POC) sensors are increasingly emerging as an alternative to traditional medical diagnostics or laboratory testing and, even more so with the ubiquity of Smartphones around the world. The latter offers new opportunities to bring POC devices closer to patients for portable healthcare monitoring. In this work we present a portable system, consisting of an electronic device and software for Android operating system, capable of measuring the time-dependent impedance modulus of a sample or biochemical solution, at a single frequency and for bipolar configuration. The system was characterized and its linearity and precision were evaluated, obtaining acceptable results in a range from 1 to 10 kΩ.
