Resumen:
ZnO is a widely used type II-VI semiconductor due to its bandgap and high exciton binding energy. These properties, and the possibility of changing them through doping, allow this material to be useful in a wide range of applications. The growth of ZnO by electrodeposition is interesting since the technique does not require high temperatures, it is simple and cheap. In addition, the geometric and morphological properties of the deposits can be modified by changing process parameters, such as deposition time, temperature, and applied voltage or current. Solutions used in electrodeposition must contain the Zn+2 ion. These can be recovered from the waste generated by spent alkaline batteries.
