A Project on the Cretaceous-paleogene Boundary of Neuquen Basin, Northern Patagonia incluyes the study of mega and microffossils We have carried out quantitative and semiquantitative analices of calcareous nannofossils in the well-exposed marine Liu Malal Section in the Neuquen Basin. We recognized two nannofissils associations. One is diverse, Late Maestrichtian in age, CC26Zone. Th other is characterized at the base by presence of thoracophaerids, progressively replaced by Toweius africanus and Neochiastozygus modestus to the top. This association is indicative of the Sanian, NP1-NP3 Zone.
