Resumen:
Engineered nanoparticles are attracting great interest for application in different fields of medicine. These nanosized materials have high absorption efficiency in biological tissues and it is one of the relevant characteristic to be applied in cosmetics and medicine. For a long time, albumin has attracted the attention of the Pharmaceutical industry because is the most abundant serum protein and its ability to bind a wide variety of drug molecules and alter their pharmacokinetic parameters. Albumin nanoparticles can be prepared by emulsification but this method requires an organic solvent for removal of oil and surfactant. Desolvation process with organic solvents is another commonly used method for protein nanoparticles preparation. Chemical cross linking with glutaraldehyde or heat denaturation are standard stabilization steps done to avoid particle dissolution. It is also known that albumin oligomerization by thermal process involves protein denaturation.
