Resumen:
the design of polymer surface with molecular recognition capabilities is an exciting subject with potential application in analytical and biotechnological field. Molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs) are still in their infancy and new methodologies are requiered to broaden their application. In this work MIPs were sinthetised by simultaneous radiation induced graft polymerization in a polar medium using 4-vynil pyridine as specific monomer and diethylene glycol dimethacrylate as filler monomer. Bacitracin, a cyclic peptide, was used as target molecule to develop a MIPs grafted on macroporous membranes. Soluble complexes of vinyl pyridine, bacitracin and copper (II) were obtained and characterised by visible spectroscopy in an aqueous medium. These complexes were grafted on macroporous polyethylene membranes. MIP materials showed ability to adsorb bacitracin (1.4 umol/ml) in a higher amount than control (0.4-0.8 umol/ml). In addition, these materials showed 5-fold greater selectivity to bacitracin than that of chemically modified bacitracins.
