Resumen:
Nowadays, most nucleic acids isolation commercial kits are silica-based. In this regard, each day new strategies oriented to the optimization of nucleic acid purification silica-based protocols are developed. The goal of this mini-review is to give a summary of the techniques evolution and remark the current necessities to be solved by new purification methods based on silica materials. As well, it will be approached for a survey of the purified DNA/RNA quality and quantity for a subsequent technique. This information is of vital importance to take into account for the success of molecular diagnostics. This review is designed to guide scientists and engineers in their choice of a suitable DNA/RNA purification technique for research or bioprocessing
