Resumen:
In this work, the synthesis and characterization of 3resols modified with 10, 20 and 30%wt of hardwood Kraft lignin were carriedout. In all cases, the Kraft lignin was activated by hydroxymethylation. Thecharacterization of the resols involved industrial measurements such as freeformaldehyde, viscosity, total solids and density. The resins were used for theindustrial impregnation of Kraft-type paper and the production of laboratorylaminates. The laminates were characterizatedmechanically (tensile, flexural, impact andinterlaminar tests), and thermally (thermogravimetric and dynamic tests). In addition, the agingof the material in water was studied. No differences between traditional andmodified materials were found with replacement up to 20%wt of phenol. The workwas carried out in collaboration with Centro S.A., San Francisco, Córdoba,Argentina, which produces high pressure laminates.
