Resumen:
We used the two 30-m radio antennas at the Argentine Institute of Radioastronomy (IAR) to perform high-cadence observations of PSR J0437-4715, one of the nearest and brightest millisecond pulsars. Using this data set comprising +700 h of observations, we show that the timing precision currently achievable at IAR is ≈ 0.5 μs when accounting for different noise sources. We also identified and quantified the sources of timing error, analyzed the effects of scintillation due to the interstellar medium, and set constraints for single-pulsar searches of continuous gravitational waves. This study probes the potential of the IAR observatory to contribute with pulsar- timing arrays in the search for sources of long-period gravitational waves.
