Resumen:
Recently, two sites have been discovered in the Patagonia area of the Argentine Republic (in the province of Río Negro)., where chemicals, all of them pesticides, had been buried. This is the first time that this kind of substances is disposed in such a way in our country. Chemicals had been kept in drums. However, many pesticides eventually got released in the earth due to the breaking of the containers getting broken, a fact likely to contaminate the ground all around the sites.Content of drums as well as neighboring earth samples have been analyzed. The following chemicals have been mainly found in containers, namely: Dichlorvos, Disulfoton, Fenthion, Tributylphosphate, Methyl parathion, molecular sulphur, Coumaphos, Carbofuran, p-nitrophenol, Fenamiphos, Demeton methyl, Ziram, saliclylamide and Methiocarb as well as less quantities of some other ions and several degradation products of the above mentioned chemicals. The following substances have been identified in the ground samples: Disulfoton, Ethyl parathion and Methyl parathion.
