Resumen:
Hydrogen is currently obtained mainly by reforming of hydrocarbons, followed by the water gas shift reaction (WGS). The gaseous stream obtained in this way contains between 0.1 and 1% CO [1-4]. The electrodes of the proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEM) must work with CO concentrations below 100 ppm (3), so it is necessary to reduce the CO content of the output streams of the hydrogen production processes for use it for this purpose. The preferential oxidation of CO (COPROX) is one of the promising options (5) to reach concentrations of CO compatible with those required by PEM fuel cells. In this paper, a comparison of the activity of γ-Al2O3 and SiO2-supported Pt catalysts modified by Fe was carried out, in order to determine the impact of the support and the loading of the modifier on the catalytic performance.
