Resumen:
Restoration
of coronary flow after an ischemic event rescues the heart from further damage
but also causes deleterious effect such as disturbances in heart rhythm. We
analyzed the contribution of CaMKII-dependent phosphorylations to the
generation of reperfusion arrhythmias. We found that CaMKII-dependent
phosphorylation of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca-ATPase regulator
phospholamban, is crucial in improving calcium handling and contractility
during the reversible ischemia-reperfusion injury and that CaMKII-dependent
phosphorylation of the SR ryanodine receptor is critical in the generation of
arrhythmias. Maneuvers to prevent this latter one, will be beneficial in the
treatment of reperfusion arrhythmias
