Resumen:
The utilization of a particular structurefor the adaptive I1R filter and a relatedspecial interpretation of the Steiglitz-McBridernethod for coefficient updating are discussed inthis papero The rnain application ernphasis isecho cancellation but other areas of adaptive signalprocessing can be included, as for exarnple thepost cursor filter in decision feedback equalization.Except for the lattice realization, that is basedon the ni ce properties of Szego orthonorrnal polynornials,no other adaptive I1R filter realizationusing orthonorrnal characteristics seerns to be extensivelystudied in the literature. The structureproposed is based on a generalized orthonorrnalfarnily of functions, that has as special cases theLaguerre functions and the Kautz functions. We illustrate the theorical results with sornecornputer sirnulations in wich the I1R adaptive filterstructure proposed is cornpared with an adaptiveFIR filter structure based on a truncated Laguerreorthonorrnal realization. In this cornparisonthe relevant aspects studied were cornputationalcornplexity and rnodeling capability.
