Resumen:
In this work, a decomposition technique is proposed, and it is applied to a model for the optimal short term programming of power generation in thermoelectric plants including transmission constraints. The goal is to get a good solution for a large problem in an efficient time of resolution. A method to analyze the results is also proposed, which allows controlling the network; namely, by applying this method, the critical zones can be detected, and then, some key improvements for the network can be suggested.With the aim of studying the efficiency of the proposed method, two systems of different size are considered. The efficiency of the proposed technique is compared with that of the original model and with that of the resulting model when linear approximations are applied.The proposed decomposition technique presents a good performance: an optimal solution is obtained within a small gap and an efficient computing time.Keywords: Optimization;
