Resumen:
Molecular techniques are useful to resolve different kinds of evolutionary problems in Curculionidae. RAPDs (Random nalysis of DNA Polymorphisms) was applied to characterize populations of the boll weevil Anthonomus grandis, Giving significant information on their gene flow and routes of migration. Mitochondrial DNA sequences were compiled to analyze phylogenetic relationships within the weevil genera Aramigus and Galapaganus. They have also contributed to study the evolution of parthenogenetic reproduction within the genus Aramigus, and to estimate the age of the arrival of flightless species of Galapaganus in the Galápagos archipelago.
