Resumen:
The first results of a study of well-preserved fossil plants which were found in coai shales of theLibertad Formation, in the surroundings of Dique de los Sauces, are introduced in this paper. Fertileand sterile specimens of Asterotheca piatnitzkyi Frenguelli of the association which is almost exclusivelycomposed by pecopterids and Cordaitales are described and illustrated. One species of Cordaicarpus and at least two species of Cordaites have been recognized among the forms which integratethe rest of the association. Late Carboniferous age is tentatively attributed to the paleoflora.
