Contribution to the age of the igneous-metamorphic basement of the La Huerta range, province of San Juan, Argentina

Even though there are numerous geochronological data concerning the Valle Fértil range, the lack of radiometric data from the crystalline basement of La Huerta, hampers both its correlation with the former, as well as with the rest of the outcrops of the Pampean System, San Juan province, and its insertion into the evolutive context of the region. The purpose of this paper is to reveal the results of a K/Ar age of the La Huerta igneous complex. The data obtained poses questions about certain hypotheses concerning the tectonic and thermal history of the area, and allows for the possibility of correlating the rocks of this mountain range with those of other outcrops from adjacent regions.
