Resumen:
Receiver function results from the southwestern sector of the Sierra Pie de Palo (SPP), province of San Juan, are here compared with the seismic properties calculated from analyses of its lithological composition. The observations are combined to test petrological and seismic models. Thus, this paper is a contribution to the knowledge of the crustal thickness and seismic velocity structure of the SPP. The results suggest a thick crust of 47-km depth including a potential decollement level at 15-km depth and a lower crust of higher seismic P-wave velocity and higher density compatible with granulite/ecoglite facies lithologies.
