Resumen:
Alkaline basalts and trachybasalts ascribed to the latest stages of the Gondwanian orogenic cycle overlie the crystalline basement of the Sierra de Valle Fértil. These rocks have evolved from a MgO-rich primary magma and are the result of magmatic activity associated with intra-crustal rifting related to deep lithospheric fractures in the Western Sierras Pampeanas area.
