Resumen:
A geological and geophysical study was carried out in the Blanca gorge igneous complex (Upper Permian-Lower Triassic in age), located in the southeastern border of the La Huerta Range, Marayes Mining District, San Juan province, Argentina. The study was focused on a small mineralized rhyolite porphyry and related volcanic breccias, built up on igneous-metamorphic rocks of the crystalline basement (Upper Precambrian-Lower Paleozoic in age). Taking into account that the magnetic methods have extensively been applied in mineral exploration by its good properties, a total magnetic field profile was laid out along the Blanca gorge, over ~2 km in length. The results showed a good correlation between the magnetic measurements and the outcroping rock units. In addition, a fault-controlled contact was inferred from its magnetic response. The present results compliments geological and magnetic data collected as a part of a regional and metallogenic research program.
