Resumen:
A magnetic survey was carried out in an andesite porphyry outcrop (PMV), located in the southwestern end of the La Huerta range, Western Pampean Ranges, San Juan, Argentina. The PMV was intruded within the proterozoic-lower paleozoic crystalline basement and covered in non-concordance by triassic sedimentary rocks. Vein and disseminated sulfide mineralization was recognized in the PMV. To increase previous knowledge, twenty N 45° W magnetic profiles, with variable lenght between 400 - 725 m and separated 25 m, were laid out. The qualitative interpretation of the resulting magnetic maps (Total Field, Analytical Signal and Vertical Derivate), allowed to outline the PMV in depth and distinguish it from the surrounding lithologies. They also showed the main structures present in the area.
