Resumen:
The petrographic characteristics as well as the radiometric age of a small andesite porphyry body -not mentioned in the geological literature-, are made known in this paper. The igneous body is located in the eastern edge of the Marayes-El Carrizal basin of Middle to Upper Triassic age, in the contact zone with the Proterozoic-Early Paleozoic crystalline basement of the La Huerta range. The new geochronological data obtained from this andesite porphyry indicates a Permian age (259±13 Ma), which allows to consider it as belonging to the gondwanic magmatic-metallogenic cycle of Sierras Pampeanas (central-western Argentina).
