Volcanic and subvolcanic rocks of Tertiary perhaps Latest Cretaceous age crop out at Cerro Desagüe, eastern foothills of Cordillera Principal (35º-35º S.L.). Andesitic-basaltic and dacitic rocks contain amphibole rich composite xenoliths of gabroic composition as well as cognate inclusions, which indicate a magma mixing. Petrographic, geochemical -mayor and trace elements- mineral chemistry and isotope determinations are consistent with a cogenetic relation of all involved magmatic members.
