Resumen:
It is shown that a neutron scattering experiment can exhibit a strong signature of the stochastic resonance effect. In the absence of external forcing, stochasticity causes the transfer of part of the elastic intensity to the quasi-elastic (QE) region. When a sinusoidal modulation is introduced, part of the QE intensity is transferred to inelastic, resonant lines, generating a signal-to-noise ratio similar to that found fore the power spectrum. Potential asymmetries are shown to reduce both the signal-to-noise ratio and the absolute intensity of the resonant lines.
