Fluorescent quenching offilms of segmented conjugated polymers (SCPs) is a promising approach fordetection of NACs because their amorphous structures introduce porosity ofmolecular dimensions and reduce any potential p-stacking that usually leads to polymerself-quenching. In previous reports,1,2 we encounter thedifficulties already mentioned by other authors3 in establishingtrends for quenching responses of NACs by fluorescent materials in condensedphase. The present report deals with the picric acid (PA) and trinitrotoluene(TNT) quenching efficiencies in aqueous solution of the fluorescence of films ofpoly(oligophenylene isopropylene)s with either increase polarity (P3MF > P3M> P3) or longer fluorophore length (P5 > P4 > P3).
