Resumen:
In forest trees, as in all organisms new genetic variants are generated by mutation. In order to spread out the potential adaptive success of them, new formed genetic information has to move. The adaptive importance of the new genetic combinations is initially tested through the strong selection pressure during the sporophyte and gametophyte stages, in the local environmental conditions where these mutations appeared. However a crucial evolutionary process through which beneficial genetic mutations can be tested under different environmental conditions is driven by what is called gene flow.
