Resumen:
The objectives of this study were: 1) to study and quantify direct and indirect tree and shrub resistance to both prescribed burnings and wildfires, including tree survival inrelation to indirect measures of fire intensity, and 2) to improve the existing guidelines for forest management with regard to (i) tree recovery and regeneration after fire, and (ii)damagemitigation and classification.  Results of this case study showed that pruning and thinning densities are of major importance related to tree survival after wildfires. The ideal thinning would be to leave from 500 to 700 tress per ha, pruned to 3 m height.  These densities allowed trees to survive severe fires and maximazing production.
