Summary The objectives of this study were twofold: 1) To review the amount of emissions in CO2 equivalents produced by wildfires, prescribed burning and suppression fires that could affect of have affected ponderosa pine plantations in Patagonia; and 2) To identify the potential net mitigation of emissions through the implementation of fire management procedures within prescribed burning and suppression fires.  Results at present show that PB practices reduces the risk of wildfires in afforestations in Patagonia, and that this practice could help in reducing the amount of CO2 equivalents that otherwise are produced by those wildfires.
