Social representations of fire risk in a wildland urban interface

This paper accounts for social representations of fire risk within the inhabitants of a wildland-urban interface located in Esquel, Argentina, and for the processes of communication for prevention that take place there. On one hand it analyses the meanings produced by the population and, on the other, the ones communicated by fire management institutions to search, afterwards, if they match at any level. Considering the results it presents a communication proposal to manage fire risk that maintains an integral look over social processes related to fire risk production. The approach keeps a communicational perspective nourished by Anthropology and Sociology.
