Fire behavior is influenced by water content and flammability of vegetation living tissues. These two parameters were assessed for six species of Patagonian forests of Argentina. Water content and flammability were inversely related, and significantly differed among species.  This study increases the knowledge of fuels and fire behavior in Southern Argentina and Chile.
